Recreation Victoria British Columbia Canada

Victoria is a recreation mecca. The west coast lifestyle focuses on nature and all things outdoors. Hiking, fishing, bird watching, sailing, kayaking, bicycling and the list goes on and on. If you like the outdoors you’ll likely find it in Victoria, BC.

In late October to early November the first significant rain will bring the salmon in from the ocean to spawn just minutes north of Victoria at Goldstream Park. This event is also the cue to hundreds of Bald Eagles showing up to feast on the salmon carcasses until late February.

There are dozens of municipal and provincial parks throughout the greater Victoria area to enjoy. Swimming in rivers such as the Sooke Potholes to lakes such as Thetis or Durrance Lakes is a favourite summer time pastime.

The Galloping Goose Trail connects downtown Victoria to our "cottage country" of Sooke and beyond. Hikers and bicyclists alike enjoy the convenience of the trail to park their cars. West of downtown the trail winds through the pastoral countryside of Metchosin.
